Introduce to Enamelling whilst I attended Central St Martins College of Art & Design in London,England. This piece was inspired by the watercolor illustrations of Lobsters from Norwalk Aquarium,CT. This actual enameled piece has yet to be completed. Needs a few more layers of enamel and firings. Also this is the second time this piece has been made. Oh Yes! on the final firng I "cooked" the first one...glowing orange as I left it in the kiln just a second too long. I couldn't talk for a few hours. Disbelief and devasted, many hours goes into cloisione Enamelling.
The "cells" in which the enamel fits into are built up using fine silver cloisonne wire. Piece by piece cut and bent into shape then basically all held together with the fired enamel on top of a copper base.
